SPECIFIC PHOBIAS

Curious Adolescent
WHAT ARE PHOBIAS?

Excessive and persistent fear of a specific object, animal, or situation in a way that interferes with daily functioning is considered a phobia (Halldorsdottir & Ollendick, 2016).

Phobias are also a sign of generalized anxiety; studies have shown that approximately 30% of individuals who experience phobias also have generalized anxiety (Halldorsdottir & Ollendick, 2016).

Some common phobias include spiders, snakes, heights, inclosed spaces, flying, and germs.
